Trend: smoked glass lighting

A gorgeous smoky grey glass has crept into lighting of late. Using the the chemistry lab as a starting point is big news in 2011 (flask-shapes, test-tubes, clear tubing, clamps) – a new take on industrial-inspired products used at home – and lots of designers seem to have gone for grey glass as a way of softening was could be a hard-edged look. Iodine-coloured glass is an emerging alternative colourway, for more of a labware feel. Here are some favourites from the upper end of the market, but expect a trickle-down to the high street.
